We went there for lunch for a dish recommended in Creative Loafing, but it wasn’t available. So we settled for a soup which was OK, but lacked any richness in the flavor. The pea salad was nice, but some peas and slices of radishes for $12? Our server told us that they did have an off-menu item of their hamburger which had been voted best burger in “Atlanta” magazine. It was an excellent burger and came with some OK but slightly soggy fries. It isn’t a particularly fancy restaurant, but prices are quite high. The setting is pleasant and service was perfunctory. Around the corner is the very nice “Proof” bakery which has excellent coffee and desserts.

Food was good but pricy for eggs and grits. I ordered the eggs with ramps and lump crab meat — not much crab! Service was okay. The pastries are.... okay. Kind of reminded me of German pastry, beautiful but taste a bit like grocery bag paper. I suspect that had we visited on a less busy day I would have been more favorably impressed.

My husband read that this restaurant had been named THE best "farm to table" restaurant in the entire state of Georgia. So, off we set. The traffic was awful this day, so it took us over an hour to get down into the heart of Atlanta. It was 32 miles away. It's not the restaurant's fault for traffic, Atlanta is just like that. But we were hungry and awaiting a fantastic meal when we arrived. The restaurant is on the corner of the block, beautiful picture windows to sit near. The church next door is very pretty, and it is a beautiful Spring day! That's where the smiles end. Inside is very busy, but we did get a table, even without reservations. The noise level was over the top. We should have sat outside. The menu looked interesting. We ordered 2 appetizers, one hot, one cold, and split them. The hot biscuits and gravy was tasty. The biscuits were a little on the dense side, but the gravy had a nice flavor. That's what I should have eaten for lunch. We love seafood, so we had to try the mussels. It was tasty as well, but difficult to split with 3 pieces of ciabatta toast. It was tangy with the pickled carrot "juice" over everything. There were a good number of mussels. My husband's pork jowl arrived as a sandwich. It was not stated that it was a sandwich. It was very fatty. The flavor was good for the ingredients, as my husband ate it with knife and fork because it was too large and drippy to pick up and eat by hand. He did manage to cut off much of the overabundance of fat. My catfish sausage arrived as a soupy bowl of the rice porridge with salad on top and some "catfish sausage" sprinkles in between. I love catfish, and I love sausage. This should have been very enjoyable. Firstly, there was very little of what was thew sausage part and it was very strongly seasoned. It might have been chicken or turkey in there, I'd have no idea from the flavor. The rice porridge, while it looked interesting, was nearly flavorless. I suppose if I'd have just mixed up the whole bow

My friend and I made a resolution to try a different restaurant that has specialty hamburgers each month. This month was the One Eared Stag. I had read reviews about the hamburger not on the menu called the meatstick. It was incredible! I will just stop that that because you have to try it for yourself. The fries that come with the burger are delicious as well. We tried the salmon just to see what it was like and it was so flavorful. The table next to us ordered the fried chicken and it looked so good. I wanted to see if they would let me take a bite. Lastly - our server - Gabrielle was knowledgeable and courteous and efficient.
