  • This restaurant is our favorite Saturday afternoon event while shopping at Topanga Mall. It's in Neiman Marcus (our go-to place for top lines in makeup and skin care). We love the ambience (sit inside or outside on the patio where a manmade fountain and plantings add to the calm). We also love the "starters" that come when you sit down--first a demitasse cup of chicken broth with tiny biscuits, then popovers with strawberry butter. The menu is based on what I call California fusion--fresh ingredients prepared with influences from all over the globe. My favorite entrees are the pan-seared salmon filet salad, the salmon tacos, and the chicken paiillard milanese, but we've never had anything we didn't like. The service is first-class, friendly but not intrusive. And even if you appear just before they close (6 on Saturday), everyone is cheerful and welcoming--and take their time to serve. It isn't just lunch or early dinner, it's an event. For my daughter and I (and now my granddaughter), it's become a tradition. And you might even see a TV or movie star--we have--but even when the stars come out, there's no big fuss, this restaurant treats all of us like stars.

  • The Skinny- Parking- plenty at the mall Decor- modern minimalist Service- Outstanding Restroom- museum like Food- excellent After a long day of shopping, my friend recommend this cafe hidden deep within the Neimans store. We were immediately seated and given napkins based on what we were wearing! (so no lint was left behind) Our waitress was very professional and really made the meal enjoyable. They start by bringing you a small bite size cheese biscuit and an espresso sized cup of chicken broth. Then comes the huge warm popover with strawberry butter - utterly delicious! I ordered the Salmon salad which was excellent and the portion was large. I had enough for lunch the next day. My mom ordered the BLT which was huge and the bacon so yummy. It came with a small fruit dish and potato chips (a bit salty). We ordered the parmesan fries which were also very good. I will definitely be back.
