  • We stumbled upon this restaurant quite accidentally. Having tried all the Gwangju "must" foods, we walked around the Food Culture Street (음식문화거리) and went in here. They specialize in a Korean chicken soup using fresh chicken from a nearby mountain - Maisan. We were not expecting much, but the place had nice deco, clean bathrooms, and great food. It ended up being the best food we had in the city. They have a bunch of soups with the HwangChilSamGyeTang being the most recommended by the waitress 황칠삼계탕 (18,000W). We ended up getting a half chicken HwangChilBanGyeTang 황칠반계탕 (12,000), which was beautifully plated and well balanced and tried the HwangGaeDakGaeJang 향계닭개장 (8,000W) which was good and spicy and tasted like YookGaeJang except it was made from chicken. We normally not fans of SamGyeTang, so we were reluctant, but this was the really good. Along with the soup which has rice already inside of it, they gave us side dishes and sikhak (sweet rice drink) for dessert. The side dishes were very flavorful and good, and the sikhak was refreshing.
