  • Siena is fantastic and can be overwhelming. The main Piazza del Campo is spectacular but all the restaurants in the square are full of tourists paying a lot of money. We decided to eat just off the main square in a little side street. This Osteria had a very simple menu and 4 of us had a lovely lunch - ravioli (with spinach and ricotta), salad, bruschetta and an antipasti board. This was a light lunch as we were going to a wedding in the town hall and on to a massive evening meal later. The bill for 4 was 86 Euro including cover charge, a litre of house wine, a couple of beers and coffees - great value!

  • We had lunch here at the advise of our guide. Good tip. The food was simple but good. Compared to most of the nonsense restaurants around the square, this is a very good choice. It not refined, but is does not claim to be so. The risotto was course, the lamb good and the wine was fine. A good place to rest your feet and enjoy reasonable food, without the scare of bankruptcy.

  • Two of us shared a great meal......pappardelle al ragi di coniglio (rabbit) and girelle coniglio (grilled rabbit) along with salads. The food was generous in portion, piping hit and delicious.........my spouse also had a dessert of chocolate that he claimed was probably one of the best desserts he has had since arriving in Italy two weeks ago. The house red wine was very good.....fruity and not at all corse. My only complaint about the place....we were in the upstairs room and anybody smoking on the patio below, it all blew upstairs through the open windows.....a bit disagreeable especially as the owner sat on the patio most of the time, smoking!!

  • It's amazing how quiet Siena can be just one clock off the Piazza del Campo. We were looking for a nice lunch and roamed around until we found this place. We always enjoy sitting outside and these tables were cozy. We always look for places whee it seems the locals are dining. this was a good pick. My husband had the gnocchi, a dish that is usually very heavy at our home restaurants. I love ravioli and this was not disappointing. The staff were nice and helpful--made us feel comfortable.
