  • Having lived in Thailand for more than 40 years, I was surprised that I had not yet discovered this really good Thai food restaurant just a few minutes from my home, located some 50 km north of Bangkok. It is a large outdoor restaurant, with music in the evening. The food is very well prepared. Steaming hot on your table within 5-10 minutes after ordering. And, the quality is 5 star. No need to pay fancy-restaurant Bangkok prices when you can get the very best here at Lung Nuay's. It is very Thai. Very little English is spoken, except by the supervisors. The atmosphere is very Thai. Music in the evening, but the restaurant is so large, you can get tables far away from the music if you prefer. The trick is to get there. Take the Don Muang tollway to the end. Continue along Phaholyothin Road north toward Saraburi. Go under and beyond the Eastern Outer Ring Road (Route 9). Make the first u-turn after the Eastern Outer Ring Road and head back toward Bangkok for about 1-2 km. Get into the lanes for the exit on-to the service lanes running alongside the main highway. Go back under and beyond the Eastern Outer Ring Road, heading toward Bangkok. The restaurant is on the left. Plenty of parking. The restaurant always is crowded with Thais and many factories in the area host dinners and lunches there for their employees. The food is fresh, good quality, well cooked, and hot (does not mean spicy). This one is well worth the trip and even a detour.
