We booked for 11 ended up at 14 with late arrivals ~ the staff here were very accommodating throughout ~ all meals were delicious ~ made a family get-together a very happy occasion. Staff were very helpful rearranging tables ~ service was great & food really good. Well well worth a trip out ~ in a great spot adjacent to a river ~ very pretty location. Thanks to all!

I,TS two years since I reviewed the anchor although I have been again since then so an update seemed appropriate.The wonky chair has gone and a new carpet has appeared.The gents has been refurbished to a good standard.The restaurant is furnished in mismatched old pieces,probably endeavouring to achieve an old world charm but can give the place a faded look,you decide.A little reminder to anyone not too nimble on their feet.This is an old building so watch out for the floor levels/steps.The food as always is excellent.The roast beef is always superb.My wife informs me the sea bass is excellent although I fail to see why it is priced at £4.05 more than the usual £12.95 for the other main courses.Seafood starters here are not to be missed but at £12.00 compared to the main ,:on this occasion,I gave it a miss.The elderberry panacotta was a little rich for me but we are all different.Tap water is served free but the bread appetiser is now charged for.All considered this is a quality meal.It was not as busy as I was expecting but I could guess why.

What a surprise on entering this pub/restaurant. The outside looked a bit bleak on arrival,but what a warm greeting we had from the staff. The huge stone fireplace had a table in it and that was where we were sat.The menu had several dishes, that we all liked and were spoilt for choice.All four of us had different dishes and picked at each others for a taste. The wine menu was excellent, with plenty of good value wines.The pudding was the highlight of the evening...sticky toffee pud with ice-cream.This is one excellent restaurant we will all be returning too.

Quality pub/ restaurant just south of Sutton ( few miles from Ely) a mile or so from main road. Number of bedrooms available. Well worth finding. Lovely old building with wood beams and cosy atmosphere. Interesting Menu which is online. Two excellent quality real ales. Large portions beautifully presented. The starter of two large slices of ham hock terrine with toasted bread was top class. Excellent sea bass main course with excellent detail to presentation. Good wine and excellent service. Memorable visit and great place for romantic meal.
