  • Popped into the Rusty Rabbit on passing for a quick coffee. I was not prepared for the delicious coffee and cake we were served. I would not hesitate to recommend this coffee shop. The coffee for all three of us was full and rich and each of our slices were perfect, gluten free and delicious. The service was welcoming, attentive, discrete and speedy. A very nice interlude.

  • We met a friend for brunch today, looking for somewhere that had reasonable brekkie options with some atmosphere (= not too noisy or crazy busy). He suggested Rusty Rabbit Cafe, which delivered. We were able to get a table for 6 at 10am on Sunday, just before the late risers appeared. Coffees were good (everyone had a re-order) and the various options taken around eggs on sour dough were delicious. The table beside us had a great looking corn fritter with salad. Although we were inside they had casual tables outside. The location is on a quiet corner, so sitting out there is the winter sun would be pleasant. Total bill for the 6 of us was $147. Around $16 for food plus $4 each for coffees.

  • This relatively new eatery in Darlinghurst occupies the spot previously occupied by the business that infamously refused to hire a barista due to his skin colour. Gratifyingly, that business failed shortly afterwards and it has now been replaced by this great new venue. The business is operated by (I think) 3 brothers and offers great coffee, clever modern Australian food and a relaxed style of service. My partners had corn fritters and salmon and I had green, eggs and ham - both of which were very good. The décor is eclectic and fun, making the most of the historic convict hewn sandstone walls and some large windows overlooking the street. I visited on the weekend and they have given it a further makeover with some cool but comfortable new chairs and handmade concrete tables. Small area for improvement? The corn fritters could have been a little thinner or cooked through and my ham was a bit too processed. However, these are minor issues This is a great place for a lazy brunch on a Saturday or Sunday.

  • The coffee used to be good when the brothers were making it. Now every time there is a different guy behind the coffee machine who makes it either boiling or lukewarm and most of the time can't even taste the coffee because it's too milky! Very disappointed considering how good the coffee used to be! I wrote the same comment on one of their posts on Instagram twice and each time they deleted my comment and at the end removed me from their followers which I find very disrespectful. Obviously they just want to hear how awesome they are and can't take criticism!
