  • Picked this one diagonally opposite St. Vincent's Hospital. Coffee was excellent and so too the french toast with strawberries - looks to be popular with hospital staff and visitors. Nice little park across the road for takeaways too if you feel like enjoying the sunshine laying on the grass.

  • Forte is a licensed café-restaurant in Darlinghurst, corner of Burton and Victoria streets, opposite Garvan Institute of Medical Research and near St Vincents Hospital and Green Park. It took my fancy when I was staying nearby for a week. The people are friendly, and outside of rush hours it's a place where you could sit undisturbed for a while, indoors or at one of the sidewalk tables. Although I warn you: don't go there if you want to get away from traffic noise and emergency sirens. Dane brand coffee was new to me. Décor is orange-red and brown.
