  • This restaurant was recommended by a friend who lived for years in the Washington DC area. The restaurant has inside and outside seating and is located near a university. The outside seating area was full and rather than wait we ate inside. The interior is modest and the décor is humdrum. The ambiance is average. However, these aspects of a restaurant are of least importance to me. I judge restaurants by the food and the service. Service was excellent. A request to move to a larger table by the window that became vacant was met immediately. Our order for drinks and appetizers were taken as soon as we moved to the new table. We had Indian beer and ordered samosas for appetizers. They were served a few minutes later piping hot and delicious. Certainly tops samosas I have had in other restaurants. The samosas were served with a variety of chutneys - mint, tamarind and pickles. I had aloo saag (spinach with potatoes) and naan (traditional Indian bread) while my colleague has chicken biryani. The saag was delicious. Creamy and bursting with flavor and not too spicy and the naan was soft and almost dissolved in my mouth. My colleague enjoyed the biryani. all told an excellent meal. I would recommend this restaurant for both neophytes and experienced Indian food lovers.
