  • After a long day walking around on a cold, cold, cold Saturday in November in Berlin you would settle for anywhere to sit down and warm up. Unfortunately for us, as you get to the last few blocks of Freidrishstrasse there is almost nowhere to eat. Luckily, just before we got to the U-bahn station at the very end at Mehringplatz we found this place. It honestly looks like it has been transplanted from some seaside resort, complete with proprietor trying to flag tourists down on the street and entice them in. The food was very nice and tasty, there was plenty of it and it was good value - certainly compared to the offerings we saw up the street towards Checkpoint Charlie. The area appeared to be more residential than touristy, and we took this as a good thing. I would probably go out of my way to come back here to eat when in that general area of Berlin, at least until I found another similar Turkish place somewhere nearer.

  • We were staying on Friedrichstrasse and found this at the other end to all the shops - where the locals live. Go out of Hotel Angleterre and go left to the end of the street (10 mins). Very good food and large portions. I didnt like the house wine and they changed it no problem or charge to Pino Grigio. Friendly manager/owner.
