While the food is OK, our experience was tainted by the fact that the waiter blatantly lied to us. When the bill came, he asked if we wanted to add 15% service charge. I was confused as I thought the menu said it was included and questioned it to my husband. He overheard and says "no, it's not, you can add it now". Not wanting to cheat him out of his gratuity, or thinking someone would lie like that, we believed him and added it, just to translate the receipt later to see that clear as day, in French of course, it said fixed service included. Would not trust this place again.

Guillaume is surely a good restaurant. I had "Croustillant de foie gras frais de canard" as appetizer, then filet de boeuf and baba as dessert. However portions are not so big, probably in line with French cuisine style, and the amount I paid (57 EUR) a bit on the high side. The service was good and fast, while the location is not fantastic and next to a bar where you can have some heavy drinkers buzzing around.

We found this small restaurant by accident in the 11th arrondissement not too far from where we were staying in the Bastille area. The owner/chef Guillaume was very welcoming and made us feel like valued customers from the very first visit; in fact we ended up eating here on several occasions and each time the quality of food, the service and the welcoming atmosphere was of the same high standard. The restaurant offers traditional French cuisine but it has interesting and innovative touches - the menu changes about every three weeks and the chef obviously puts a great deal of thought into varying the courses so as to keep the regulars happy and keen to come back for more. Some of the dishes we tried and enjoyed were: carpaccio de saint-Jacques, tarte d'espadon, tarte fine, supreme de poulet Tandoori, dos de cabillaud a la vanille, veau a la thai, supreme de pintade and fillet de cerf. Desserts were all mouth-watering as well, with his profiteroles pistache being our firm favourite. The wine list was small but very adequate, there being some very reasonable Bordeauxs at most acceptable prices. All in all, this restaurant 'Guillaume' provides a very pleasing eating-out experience for the visitor to Paris, as well as for the longer-term resident. Everything is highly professionally done (surprising perhaps in such a small restaurant) but the atmosphere is extremely welcoming and engaging,
