  • Booked this based on the reviews for my wife's 50th birthday. The staff were very good, the food was good, not great. However, there was a large group in and service suffered. Also, our seating location was next to a food cabinet. Once the large party left we asked and were moved to a much better table and served with complimentary drinks and dessert. We would go again.

  • We were staying just off nearby Campo San Maurizio and read about Il Caffe in a guide book, so decided to try it out for breakfast on our first morning. We ended up going back for breakfast there every day. Situated in Campo San Stefano, a square with a much more local feel than in many of the other parts of Venice. Great cappucinos and caffe lattes and a wonderful selection of fresh pastries every day. We tried jam, almond and chocolate and on the day we were a bit later, some lovely vegetable quiches. Polite, professional staff and a mixed clientele of locals and tourists. Our top tip would be, do as the Venetians do and stand at the bar or adjacent ledge to have your coffee and pastries, as it is significantly more expensive outside - as we discovered on our last day when we had to bring our suitcases with us. Recommended.
