  • We went there with a japanese friend, which helped a lot because there is no english menu available. But if you know the japanese Phrase for "what can you recommend" and you are Little adventurous you will have a great evening. The first Problem however is to find it. It is NOT on shijo dori, however we had to put a street name in. But it is close. When Walking from gion westward over the shijo dori Bridge you take the first right after the Bridge, behind the huge "unagi-restaurant" into the small alley. after maybe 100-150 m you to turn left into an even smaller dead-end-alley at which end you hopefully find the yakumo. The place itself offers seats for about ten People. The only Person working there is the Chef Keiichi Kaseda who serves great japanese Food. However he travelled the world to find specialities to add to the japanese menu. The Food was very diverse. We had , among other things, straw grilled fish, hungarian pork for self grilling, noodles, vegetables, gratinated scallops and locusts :-) The menu will differ from day to day depending what keiichi will buy on the market. I am not sure exactly how much we paid at the end but we had a lot of Food and quite some Drinks and felt the Price was worth it.
