Our hotel receptionist recommended Aera for some good beers and food. Came here with my wife and father in law and came back almost every night we stayed in Vienna. Funny and very attentive server/bartender (forgot his name sorry) who'd recommended the best pizza we've ever tasted. Downstairs had a live band club type atmosphere and on the ground floor was the restaurant/bar which had a hip Austrian ambiance. Seems as a local favorite as opposed to being a tourist spot. Would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to wind down after a long day of exploring Vienna.

Huge pizzas, thin base, cheap and cheerful, staff friendly and full of locals as well as a few other travellers makes this place great. This restaurant was a 2 minute walk from where we were staying so it was a no brainer to pop in particularly after reading the reviews here. All the reviews for Aera are pretty accurate, smoking section blocked off, thankfully, bar area that you can eat at also, menu available in German and English although curiously there are 11 pizzas on the German menu but only 8 on the English, what's that about? One thing though it is cash only, and although not expensive: pizzas, beers and hot chocolate: €30 you could get caught out. Wouldn't make a special journey to eat here but if the general area and want somewhere casual would drop in.

We finished at the opera house close to 23:00 and we staggered across this place on the way home. The waiter was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the only thing the chef was willing to cook was Pizza (even though food service was ongoing for a further hour) that let this place down by one star. The pizza however was fantastic. A thin but fluffy and crispy base with the right balance in topping, I was impressed with its authenticity! Shame the chef rejected to cook the other dishes, I would have loved to try some of the other options.

Just had brunch today, cause I had no breakfast at home ;) Visited the Aera a couple if times before, but had no brunch before. They offer a small, but nice collection of breakfast and brunch variations. The coffee is good and the freshly pressed orange juice is really freshly made. The waitresses are always friendly, not too ambitious, but nice and welcoming. The restaurant is only a 3-minute-walk so I really enjoy their service ;)
