  • The staff here are wonderful and the food was delicious. Our waiter bent over backwards to accommodate our requests and the chef altered dishes to our liking. I had never been here before but I will definitely be returning! Thank you for such a lovely meal.

  • Used to regularly buy take away from the Majjo's shop along the parade but not for some years and passing by recently I noticed the cafe so thought I'd give it a try. It is a simple space of just a few tables and the menu though short has sufficient interesting items, some charcoal cooked, some vegetarian items with some additional specials also. Food arrived very quickly and we thought it to be both flavoursome and decent portion size. No licence, but you can BYO. Last night was cold and you can certainly feel it when the door is opened- this is my only criticism. Prices also ok.

  • I've previously had take-aways from Majjo's deli. As my parents were visiting, I thought I'd take them to Majjo's restaurant a few doors away. We skipped starters but had some complimentary papr (fried samosa pastry), it was (just) ok to nibble on while our food arrived. We all decided to go for the charcoal dishes, ordering chicken, paneer, fish and prawns; the dishes arrived with a small portion of dahl and salad. We also ordered a few portions of naan bread. The portion size for three of the dishes was just about acceptable, with salad being used as a plate filler. However the biggest disappointment was the prawns. At £16.50 for approximately six prawns, this was a highly overpriced dish. It was not suitable to be served as a main course and would be more suited to a starter for which I'd expect to pay half the price, if not less. For six chargrilled prawns to be served as a main course was shameful and an insult to the restaurant's customers. As it turned out, we shared our dishes. However I felt embarrassed to have taken my parents to an Indian restaurant that was so disappointing and lacked value for money. The portion sizes are too small and the prices are too high, especially when compared to other similar places. In hindsight it might have been better to order one of the curries, however what dissuaded us was the fact that they weren't cooked fresh but would be supplied from the deli next door - not quite what you want when you go to a restaurant. Sadly, given our disappointing experience, I won't be rushing to Majjo's restaurant anytime soon.
