  • We were nearby at the Torre de Belem and I saw this place on TA. It's Goan food (cross of Indian and Portuguese, although it leans toward Indian in my inexpert opinion). It was so delicious. We had crab curry and chicken xiudo. Generous portions, low price, amazing food. It's a family run place and they were so kind to us and taught us about Goa. They sell packets of seasoning to make the dishes at home and I am so excited to be able to eat this food again someday soon! Thank you for such a lovely lunch!

  • We were among the very first guests welcomed in "Palacio do Governator". A very ancient palace completely restored, or I should say deeply transformed. Very clever way of imagining how to install a luxury hotel in these walls, some being 1 meter thick. A colleague had a little problem with electricity, it was impossible to switch off the light. There are maybe too many buttons, but this is the case in so man 5***** that we get used to that. The desk people are more than very kind and professional, they bring a smile on your face after 10 seconds. A place to discover

  • After four weeks travelling around Spain and Portugal, we were looking for something aside from the regular fare and decided to go to this restaurant for lunch after visiting Jeronimo's monastery. The owner was very welcoming and the place looked like it had regular clientele who obviously returned for a reason. We ordered the samosas for starters and Goa sausages, the chicken xacuti and the squid curry as our main. All main dishes were served with rice. The sausages were just superb along with a nice cold beer. We had a pleasant chat with the lady owner and expressed our regret that we could not buy some sausages to bring back to Australia. This was a delicious, very reasonably priced meal and if you are looking to spice up your stay in Lisbon, it is a must visit. It's a bit hard to find and is on the street corner just after the tram stop.

  • Be sure you're looking for it as it is a very well kept secret and you will miss it if you walk past the street. It was one of our best meals in Lisbon. The food was amazingly flavourful, hot, and well prepared. Don't expect fancy decor or amazing presentation. It's simple, honest food. We had the Lamb Xacuti, Sorpotel, & prawn curry. I am salivating while I am writing this :-) And the owner was very nice to us. We got talking and, by the end of it, he gave us gifts to take back home! Some of his speciality Goan sausages and more Xacuti. I'd definitely go here again.
