  • A relatively fancy “kaiten sushi (belt conveyor sushi bar)” restaurant chain’s Kawanishi branch Daiki Suisan (Daiki Seafoods 大起水産) is the operator of this conveyor belt sushi bar (kaiten sushi) in Kawanishi together with some twenty more outlets in the Osaka region. We visit this Kawanishi restaurant because it is one convenient sushi shop with relatively high quality sushi, unlike many other belt conveyor sushi shops where their selling point is more on price than on quality. Consequently, it is not a cheap place to eat, but it is not an expensive place either. Three of us spent last night about 5,500 yen for three without drinks. We were full, but we are modest eaters. The staffs are very friendly and efficient, but on weekends and early evening hours on weekdays, the restaurant is almost always crowded. It has a relatively large parking for a Japanese restaurant, but it could be impossible to find a spot. Since driving is most likely the only way to get to this restaurant, this could be a problem. They usually have some "catch of the day" for sushi and you have to ask for it. It could be a struggle without the Japanese language ability as they have no English sign of any kinds and fish names are often given in hiragana or katakana (Japanese phonetic writings). Since the parent company is a seafood wholesaler and retailer, the restaurant also has a shop for fresh fish to take home.
