  • As much Italian as you can get this side of Milano, a classic style with the right roast and blend. Small modern cafe on the high street in Leiden, simple and elegant design, yet nice and cosy, serving tasty home made cakes. My carrot one appeared to be quite spicy, good choice on winter day.

  • We had a flat white here and it was the best we've had so far on our mission to find great coffee in Leiden. We will be back.

  • Situated on Leiden's main, pedestrian shopping street, Doppio is a fine place to stop for a coffee or snack. Set in an old building, but decorated in a modern style, the Doppio features typically friendly and efficient Dutch service. They have a nice assortment of coffees and teas, as well as sandwiches and other light dishes, and -- as most cafes -- free wifi.

  • Okay, I don't want to be too negative, because it is not a bad place to drink a coffee. I visited twice, once for an espresso and once for a lunch. The espresso was really good, and was served in the proper way, with some water on the side. But the second time, I had a lunch which was disappointing. The grilled cheese was disappointing, I could make a better and more special one at home, and the coffee was just weak and tasteless. And especially that last thing should be better in a coffee place: the coffee!
