  • My first time at the Golden Orient, looking forward to Yum Cha. Walking toward the front door was found to be littered with leaves an empty takeaway coffee cup. Made it look rather uninviting. Undeterred, we ate lunch which was ok. Being a chilli lover I asked for a small bowl of fresh chilli. A bowl of chilli sauce was served. Again, I asked for fresh chilli. It arrived in a frozen clump and was unusable. When I quietly questioned the frozen chilli I was informed that is how they serve it., to keep it fresh. I sent it back. When paying the bill I noted fresh chilli being chopped... In readiness to freeze. Very disappointing. The service was a bit lacking and I felt I was being frowned upon for my request. Not rushing back....

  • We haven't been for a while and thought we would order some takeaway for dinner. Not sure if the place has changed hands, but the quality of the food has certainly gone downhill. Our chicken and cashews had some kind of tasteless processed/instant chicken instead of the previous diced chicken thigh fillets, not to mention the lack of cashews. The special fried rice did not have any special in it - no vegetables whatsoever, not even peas! Broccoli must be the only vegetable in season as the king prawns with seasonal vegetables mainly consisted of very large heads of broccoli (same in chicken and cashews). All up, very disappointing and we will not be going back.

  • I have been here a few times and had beef and black bean it's only average with not a lot of taste with little sauce and cold staff quite rude. I'd suggest ming court instead

  • We have used this restaurant through Menulog which is convenient. Each time we order the same so we do know what we should be getting. Only once did we have an issue which was resolved by the restaurant. The Peking duck is lovely and all the other dishes we order are what we would expect from a Chinese restaurant. They have been prompt with the delivery time.
