  • We had a large family dinner at Isabel's last week and had high hopes that everyone would find something on the menu that they would enjoy. Isabel's exceeded our expectations in many ways and I think that our entire family left happy and satisfied with the experience. I called in advance to make a reservation for our party of 10, and the team at Isabel's thoughtfully called the morning of and confirmed our reservation. We arrived right on time and were immediately seated. I really appreciate it when a restaurant is ready for your large group. It can be disappointing when a restaurant knows that you are coming with a larger party and then makes you wait while they get organized. This was not the case at Isabel's...our table was set and they were ready to seat us right away. Our table started with a lot of different drinks including a pitcher of red sangria that a few of us shared. It was hearty and really delicious! We also ordered two plates of chips, salsa and guacamole and there was plenty for the table of 10. My sister and I shared two dishes. First we each had a Brazil Bowl with chicken (tofu is the other option) and coconut rice (instead of brown rice). We each received a large bowl of food, and even though it was split in half it was more than enough food for each of us for dinner. We also shared a plate of the green chile tamales but we only ate one of them between the two of us because we polished off the delicious Brazil Bowl! We took the leftover tamales home and had them the next morning for breakfast with eggs on top...yum! The food is the very best thing about Isabel's Cantina. It is delicious, well prepared and extremely unique. The staff seemed a little overwhelmed by the size of our group but they were very friendly and helpful in making menu choices. Also, the room is very wide open but a little loud, probably due to the acoustics of the place. We came with our older parents who had a bit of trouble hearing each other as the night progressed.
