  • We attended a rehearsal dinner at Region last night. First the food--AMAZING! Western dishes with an Asian flair--each course was tastier than the last. All dishes were beautifully presented and well seasoned--many were a bit spicy, but not too overwhelming. Since the menu was pre-ordered for us, I can't tell you the exact names of the dishes, but here are descriptions of some of the many standouts: beef carpaccio with Asian seasonings, Green beans to die for, a kale/garlic bruscheta, a veal shank with bok choy and mashed potatoes, pork belly with caramelized onions, seared salmon, spicy Pad Thai with large shrimp, the list goes on and on. Everyone ate way too much, but each new dish was so delicious, it was hard to resist stuffing yourself. Now the service. The pacing was way too slow, and as people were getting ready to leave at the 2 hour mark, the kitchen was still sending dishes out. The servers put the dishes on the table with a terse announcement of the dish, but each was so interesting and unique, it would have been nice to get a fuller description of what we were eating. To be fair, we were a huge party, and the kitchen probably had trouble serving such a feast to that many. I would definitely return with a smaller group, just for the incredible food. Such an interesting variety of flavors and textures. We all waddled out the door marveling at the delicious dinner we'd over-consumed!
