We enjoyed pancake dish - I can't remember the name, but it had vegetables and meat and was served in a cast iron plate. The chicken was average, not bad but not anything too exciting. The decor was very inviting and the service was friendly and attentive. A pretty good value and definitely a menu off the beaten path.

I've probably been here 10+ times because my partner really loves it. I really like the general flavors, but don't love their preparations-sadly. Today we had the KFC Chicken bites. Maybe it's me, but it seems pointless to fry chicken to make the outside nice and crispy, and then slather so much sauce on the chicken that it's a soggy jumble of textures and flavors. I'd prefer KFC - at least it's crispy. I loved the variety of flavors in the dish (cole slaw and daikon)We also had their signature pancake-which I might like more with a bit less mayo. Yes, I will try to remember to order it that way next time.

I came here for a friend's birthday dinner including my friend who literally gets paid to write about food so that is always a little intimidating. Ambiance: It was abnormally warm when we visited and all the windows were open. It felt very relaxed and the crowd was a mix of late 20's-early 40's urbanites either on dates (seemingly or with friends. There are big communal tables. If you want your own table, I believe you have to specifically call ahead and ask. It felt bustling and open to the neighborhood. The highlight of the restaurant was the small plates (and I'm pretty sure we ordered most of the choices on the menu). I particularly enjoyed the Lamb Tsukune. We also had the turkey tail which we first thought would be a mushroom but was actually the rear part of a turkey, which was surprisingly yummy with rich dark meat in a gamey sort of broth. The dumplings were just delightful-the kind that make you want to close your eyes and just enjoy that very moment. We also had the wings, which would usually be a favorite of mine but I wasn't in love with-the flavoring wasn't as hot as I would hope and the skin/fried part came too easily off the skin so I effectively ate them separately. The waitress was awesome-she put up with us ordering too many bottles of wine, lingering at the table, and was generally just super, super helpful. While our final bill was not cheap at all, I felt it was good value as we had a ton of food and wine. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in SF!
