  • We loved the seafood salad and overall all of the flavors of our food. I am giving four stars because the lunch portions are a bit small on the fish, and our lunch fish was a bit dried out and a let down after the amazing starter. We also really loved the cocktail and mocktail that we ordered. My partner didn't like having to sit on the floor on cushions as it hurt his knees but I found it atmospheric, so it really depends on your preference. There is some outside normal seating but wet in the rain.

  • We sat inside as it was Ramadam - the inside area is nice and quite evocative - shoes off, sit on the floor with lots of cushions and low level tables. Unfortunately our meal went downhill from there. Whilst the starters were good one of our main meals was largely inedible - including bad king prawns (which had not been properly prepared), dry/hard rice (as a result of either being cooked in a microwave or having been reheated I expect), spinach that was very dry and overcooked, a further side dish that we couldn't even identify and then an average side of curried pumpkin. Virtually none of the food on this plate was touched and we pointed out the issues to the waitress but nothing was done (even she pulled a face at the rice). The other main meal was ok as a result of the lobster being simply and competently grilled but there were the same issues with the side dishes. A short wine list which seemed to have sufficient choice but our first choice of wine was not available. Cocktails were not good. Prices were very expensive (particularly when you factor in the issues above). Seemed to very much be a place trading on its former reputation - was very quiet when we visited (4 tables all evening) and I can understand the lack of trade given our experience. As a further issue, when we reserve a table earlier in the day we were told card payments were accepted but were then firmly told in the evening (after ordering) that it was cash only (albeit either Tanzanian shillings or (at a poor exchange rate) US dollars).

  • Good food with local swahili flavors mixed with some internationals. Nice place to sit at and watch the nearby park with people passing.

  • Stopped in for lunch on our last day in Zanzibar. We found it strange that they do not serve Biriyani and their pilau was not impressive at all. Granted the restaurant is located in the heart of Stone town and has great outside siting which was the best part of this visit. We found that the food was sadly very average.
