Took my wife to Bleecker Street based on some sketchy recommendations. It was a little easier to get reservations than I expected on this busy day, but not only did I receive email confirmations and reminders, but also a call. Early evening and the place was not crowded but very well staffed. Yes, the waiters do not rush you, but the staff are all friendly, professional, attentive, and personable. The decor is Greenwich Village meets a London Pub, plus a little plush to make it eye candy. Started with the House Salad, which is big enough to split between two people and still come out with a large salad for each. Candied Walnuts, the works. Really good and the dressing is perfect. My wife had the cioppino, which was a little less brothy than we have seen before, but quite loaded with seafood. The lobster tail, which was huge, was a little rubbery and hard to get out of the shell, but we managed, and the spicy taste was good. I had the walnut crusted halibut with mustard seed sabayon, mashed potatoes, vegas. The halibut was quite a large portion and the meal really tasty, if just a little high on the garlic and a little over-cooked, so not perfect, but still quite enjoyable. Upon our exit, my wife was handed a long stem rose, which we appreciated. The staff continued to make us comfortable throughout, even to the end. It's pricey, but it also has burgers, Mexican food, etc. My house Pino and her Martini were both great.

The restaurant's ambiance is a great positive with the feel of an East Coast pub. The staff was attentive but in no way rushed you (although the restaurant wasn't full so that may have played a part in allowing us to sit for an extended period of time without hassling). The menu offers a wide-range of options -- with choices to appeal to most everyone. All of these items are positives and reasons to return. Additionally, the hamburger was excellent -- prepared as requested and well presented. The seafood salad my wife ordered, however, was light on both lettuce and seafood -- most a variety of vegetables. While it was good, it wasn't what one would expect when ordering such a dish. The other negative is that while not overly expensive, the prices were a bit on the high side for the type of restaurant (no doubt a by-product of where it's located). Both my wife and I agree that we would go there again (although she wouldn't order the seafood salad), since it's only fair to give a restaurant a second chance.

Bleecker St. is a good place, good food, good ideas. Nothing especially recommends it, EXCEPT it provides quality, reliable food options and a friendly staff. Avoid the trendy "gastro pubs" but get quality, updated food and good service.

We have been going to this restaurant for 2 years now--was a great spot for a salad, truffle fries and a glass of wine. More and more we find it really expensive. Tonight I asked for a suggestion for glass of wine --light and tannic. We were really surprised when we got the bill at $17 per glass of wine. Fish taco appetizers 17+... Really love the feel of tis local restaurant but the prices are not in line with value.
