  • Mary is a superb host, and the meal was very relaxed - we were made to feel at home, and clearly many of the dinners had been several times before and were on first name terms... and the food was superb, and I was delighted with her recommendations for the meal. Will definitely be visiting again soon - my new favourite restaurant.

  • This is the best sushi and Japanese food we've found in London and the surrounding area. Having been to Japan we missed the real authentic sushi we were lucky enough to try out there, and couldn't believe our luck when we found a great substitute near Wimbledon! The food is excellent and this place is decorated very nicely. It's a small, intimate restaurant with a nice atmosphere, although it can get a little cold and draughty depending on where you're sitting. The service is very efficient - although not particularly smiley! - and overall it's a great place that deserves custom. We'll be recommending it and taking our friends in the coming weeks.

  • Rather off the beaten track, but convenient for the new Nelson Practice is this independent gem. I know that it serves meals, and on one occasion I had a very welcome game soup here. But I know it best as a coffee bar. There are always fresh homemade pastries and cakes and the coffee is somehow just the right strength. It is very refreshing to sit in an independent coffee bar free from the rather overbearing atmospheres in the coffee bars in the Broadway. Service is personal, quick and friendly. Obviously plays its part in the neighbourhood - rather too far for me to walk, unfortunately. Lovely quirks such as the donations board on the wall from about a century ago, showing how a local championship raised money for a hospital (possibly the very one that used to stand across the road. Very special.

  • Five friends and I visited here on Saturday after it was recommended by two of our group who live nearby and I have to say we were not disappointed! The food was freshly cooked (the Bibimbap was cooked at our table!) and absolutely delicious and it was not expensive at all. Six of us shared three starters (Edamame beans with chilli, Chicken Gyoza and Squid in batter), and two bottles of wine. That, including 6 main courses, came to £30 a head including tip! The service was great in this place and they were happy to answer all the questions I had about the food. After much deliberation, I had the raw beef Bibimbap with chilli as a main and I cannot fault it (although beware, the bowl it is cooked in is roasting hot and I did burn myself a couple of times!). I also tried one of my friend's salmon teriyaki and another's beef teriyaki and both were cooked to perfection and very tasty! Next time I am visiting London I will definitely return to Mary's Garden although the only downside is that I think I will find it difficult to decide what to eat!
