  • We came to germany for a White Christmas and were not disappointed. We stayed at the wonderful alpenhof murnau and for our Christmas dinner elected to have the degustation menu. We are travelling with myself, my wife, our two kids and my mother. The menu was excellent with a variety of meat fish and vegetable dishes. All were extremely tasty and beautifully presented. The service was excellent. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. While some starred restaurants focus on surprise, weirded combinations or molecular gastronomy (all welcome at the right place and time) this restaurant focuses on quality, flavour and harmony. All the dishes were beautifully balanced and the timing just right. The lamb and quail were warming and surrounded with winter vegetables, just right for a cold winter night. The green asparagus and spinach soup with cream was sensational. For a family of Australians far from home, the staff made our white Christmas dinner a meal to remember. Bravo.
