I visited Marukai Market on 11/23 and again on 11/26. The market has a large selection of cosmetics, dry goods (teas, etc.) and other Japanese groceries. The first visit was pleasant. The prices on the cosmetics, in my opinion, were inexpensive. During both visits my daughter and I noticed certain staff and security heavily watching us. The store was fairly full with patrons. We didn't notice any other patrons being watched. Not cool. We spent a good bit of money in this establishment. Not really sure what about our appearances screamed potential shoplifters.

A nice Japanese market. It has a few noodle and sushi houses and also a few Japanese specialty shops . Worth a look if you are at the nearby Hilton Hotel.

I always love coming to Marukai when I come to Los Angeles. I love their selection of Japanese products and they also have a great selection of local foods from Hawaii. You can get all kinds of bento boxes and also pre-made sushi, plus many options for baked goods. There is also a large selection of instant Ramen options. You can find other Japanese products here such as kitchen ware, rice cookers, etc. There is also a ton of Japanese snacks and candy, and a nice selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. But please be clear that Marukai is a market, and in fact mostly like a grocery store vs. a restaurant.
