We went to this restaurant on 'The Times' recommendation based on their sardine ramen. Had no idea what it was going to be like but felt adventurous. Staff at our hotel that we spoke to were not all enthusiastic about it as the Japanese too agreed that it's an acquired taste. We had to order & pay through a machine. Unfortunately we all ordered the same sardine noodles & could only comment on one dish. We like the texture of the ramen as we were able to decide how al dente we like our noodles to be. We were also able to decide on the size of the serving & the amount of chili spice in the sardine soup. We do not find the flavour over-powering but thought the soup slightly better than average. So will have to try their ramen in other soup next time. However, have to give the ramen itself top marks. The chewiness of the ramen was just right & they do not fall limp towards the last few mouthful.

Good ol Ramen Nagi. One of Tokyo's well know 24hr ramen joints that is more than capable to help fill your stomach or nurse your hangover. The restaurant is located on the second floor, walking up a very steep and narrow set of stairs. Once upstairs, feed the vending machine for your ticket and wait until you've been called for a seat. The seating is counter style with about 8 or 9 stools. Space is very small but doable. I ordered a bowl of their famous ramen with the thin ramen noodles and lasagna style noodles. The broth is niboshi (sardines) based and is interesting. Very acquired taste, if you're only use to the usual Shio/tonkatsu broth in Western countries. A must try in Tokyo. Restaurant is located in the Golden Gai area.
