  • Kicked us out cause my husband wasn't wearing a collar, although half the men were in tshirts. Bartender was rude and pushed us to the elevators not bothering to listen to what we had to say.

  • When walking into Tenders' humble door front, you immediately realize that you are not in an ordinary bar. Everybody is dressed in white tuxedoes, and you are immediately shown a seat at the bar. This bar is where Kazuo Uyeda mans the stick. Inventor of the Ginza hard shake, and winner of many bar awards. His cocktails stay true to old conventions and his eye for color and presentation is second to none. Thank you for a great experience. Would gladly, gladly return again.

  • This is the place lead by a special person who started all the hype in the world around Japanese bartending. Mr Kazuo Uyeda. The hard shake. The hospitality. They cannot speak English very well, no, still they will provide you with a service of highest level possible for them. Drinks are best I ever tasted, maybe I ever will. The performance - charming. Interior captivating. The very example of Japanese precision and sense of detail. Thank you for the experience, I will treasure it.

  • I found this little gem by pure coincidence online and decided to see it on my tour de bar in Tokyo. Being a foreigner wohose knowledge of Japanse was very limited at the time, I struggled to find it until one of the locals brought me to the door. This bar is a top class. I returned and I will in the future come back again. The quality of drinks and service is assured by the owner, mr. Ueda, the legendary founder of the hard shake who despite of the language barrier made sure that I felt welcome and at ease, being alone girl at the bar. The coctails are top class and I must say that the seating charge (common think in Japan) was not as hig as I tough it would be. When going there I do recommend to bring someone with basic knowledge of Japanese in case you will want to hear all the amazing stories behind the coctails.
