  • It is definitely a must go place in Japan. Soft & fluffy inside, outside toasty & it comes with real maple syrup, butter or honey. Atmosphere is cozy. There is a private room for 6 persons, minimum 2 hours.

  • In terms of coffee, Tokyo is hardly somewhere where you're spoiled for choice. But Hoshino does do a nice cup for around Yen 650. Nothing to write home about but better than what they serve up at Starbucks, Tully's etc.

  • spotted this on display and immediately queued up. Waited for abt 15min and ordered a double chestnut pound cake for sharing (chestnut is seasonal). being told to wait for 20min and is totally worth it. will look for the same chain next time in jp !

  • We settled into the smoking area and decided to order a Carbonara, a Beef Stew with toasted bread and tomato-based spaghetti, a double soufflé pancake special, a milk tea, and their famous hand-drip coffee. The food was average at best but the service was excellent. Not being Japanese and not exactly knowing the language, we relied on Google Translate and the helpful staff were patient and kind. The Carbonara sauce was a little too diluted for my liking but my partner had no qualms with her Beef Stew, commenting that the thick toast it came with was amazing. The soufflé pancake was presented beautifully with patterned whip cream, a scoop of strawberry (or Sakura possibly) ice cream, cut strawberries, and maple syrup. The texture of the pancake was fluffy and tasty and the mix of all the toppings was excellent. The coffee loses its aroma as it loses its heat, leaving me with an acidic yet artificially sweetened liquid. The tea was too bitter to have without sugar (white sugar only, no raw sugar). But despite all that could have been better, the service was of the highest standard. The waiter and waitress were polite and patient, the food arrived promptly and warm, and the smoking area did not smell as bad as I had expected. This is the second Hoshino Coffee I've been to in Japan and while the first served better pancakes (think maple syrup and condensed milk), the second was still considerably better than the franchise in Singapore despite the more compact menu.
