  • No, the food & wine aren't great by Paris's high standards - typical French dishes mostly, with a few plats du jour. Yet somehow the place is always kind of busy with locals, and very busy if it's a sunny weekend day. You can stand at the bar for "un express" or a glass of wine, sit outside and watch a busy intersection behave as it has for a century or two, or watch the big game inside. Typical Pars: waiters will remember you and are nicer after a few visits.

  • Originally meant for a quick lunch, turned out to be a two hours meal ! Simple but nice drinks and food selection, I recommend the americano for aperitif. Make sure to go up to first floor balcony !

  • Le Chalet is on the corner of Rue de Pompe and Rue de la Tour. In the summer it has an open front and a balcony but they also have a lovely area inside. The menu is very French and the service very hospitable. The food good, wine list very worthwhile and so on. One big bonus is that it is outside the traditional tourist areas so one is in a very French setting, the two streets housing a couple of bakeries, cheese shop, butchers, supermarkets, tobacco shop, fruit shops, a Chinese and a pharmacy. So get out of the over touristy areas and stroll up to Rue de Pompe. Its only 15-20 minutes from Trocadero!
