  • In this little place ambiance is always warm. Held by a young lady and her son, both adorable, this place is a good alternative to fast food. Prices are correct, their noon menus are affordable. I personally like their home-made lasagna but they also have a good variety of inventive mini-sandwiches to go with a soup of the day. La Cuisinette is worth trying.

  • Two steps from Centre Pompidou, the Modern Art Museum; also close to some of Paris's oldest streets, this littel coffee shop does NOT offer high gastronomy. But if you are looking for a quick lunch, it is perfect: a vast selection of cold "mini-sandwiches" (I had three, but two would have been enough), soups, salads and "croque-monsieur" toasted sandwiches. A few small tables, fast and extremely friendly service. You can wash down your meal with various soft drinks - but after all, this is France - why not with a glass of wine? I forgot to ask if they are open for dinner; maybe I will provide an update...
