The food was as good as anything we have had in France over the last two weeks. The service was excellent and our hosts/servers spoke more than enough English to cover our bases. Prices were reasonable and the dishes were pretty enough to make you hesitate before digging in.

I have been to Willie's wine bar on numerous occasions. Mark, an Englishman, who speaks perfect French, owns the restaurant/bar. He is such a delightful man to talk to. Positives:try the poulet, tartlette aux citrons. Red wine: cornas imprints 2011. To top it, try the only cognac available in the restaurant titled 'Audry'. we tried two glasses and ended up by purchasing the last bottle in the cellar. Highlights: portraits and paintings throughout the entire restaurant owned by Willi's. Negatives: none We will return once again to soak up the environment.

This place actually went 'off' my list of places to try while in Paris. BUT, we ended up here twice during our brief 3 night trip. Why go? Round 1: It is a really great option near the Louvre and the wine bar (smoke-free) is open during that awkward late late afternoon time. We planned a visit to the Louvre on Friday to take advantage of its late night opening and avoid too crowded entry (the secret is the back way in at other times with a museum pass). Willis is near by, with a nice walk through the Palais Royal, and fits the bill for a relaxed, did I mention smoke-free?, tipple to lube up for the Louvre. Willis offers two sizes wine glasses, nice for us smaller size folks. The bartender made suggestions based on each of our wine preferences and happily let us 'taste' before committing. Our bar bill was Euro 60 for 9 glasses (no judging - there were 4 of us!) of wine (mix of 10 and 15 cl). Round 2: Our last night in Paris, Saturday, no dinner reservations, and a bit 'food fatigued', we decided to head to Willis early and see if we could get in for just a light meal and drinks, plus it was convenient to walk back to where we were staying. Not a problem (note, it was Nov). Well, we had a waiter (who's name is being withheld to protect the innocent) who must have been having some juice in the back that everyone in the restaurant wanted to try!! He was HYSTERICAL!!!! So much so that we met another group who came back to Willis just because of HIM. We would too! The food was also delicious. We tried the Planche de Jambon from Spain that was quite the mound and melted in your mouth like butter. Other items were medaillons of Foie Gras (nice!) a poached egg salad (substantial) and a cheese plate (good variety). All in, our meal for 2 with bottled water and 8 glasses of wine (no judging - we were there for an hour before dinner service started), was Euro 133. Our waiter - Priceless!!
