  • I love the udon noddle here and the tempuras are just heavenly tatsty. But the place are all too crowded, but what can I do since it's good

  • It's cheap compare to other Japanese restaurant in HCMC and I like that it's self service so no need to sit and wait to order. The tempura here is good though some items are a little bit expensive but overall for daily food is good.

  • We tried the Marukame Udon & Tempura outlet at Ly Tu Trong, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Long queues form as early as 6pm. Free seating. Order and collect your food at the counter (very efficient). I like it that the menu above the counter is in Vietnamese and English, and servings come in Regular- or Large-sized, although offerings are quite limited. On the counter, there are also tempura, onigiri, etc. which you can pick up and pay with your order (efficiency again). Udon is good. We also ordered its pork-rice bowl which was really salty. Amazingly, despite the open kitchen and lots of deep-frying, you won't smell like food when you leave. Prices are a little steep for such simple Japanese fare and its serving sizes (VND69k-89k for Regular and VND99k for Large).

  • I was introduced to this restaurant by a a Japanese associate who wanted me to try a type of noodles: Sanuki style from the Shikoku region of Japan. The noodles are hand made in this restaurant and look like thick pasta. The manager said that the broth has home grown ingredients from Japan. I had clam Udon which was delicious, but the clams were chewy. My guest had beef curry Udon which she let me taste and it was far superior.
