It's small and hardly any space to move around, but that food was GREAT!!! Nice fresh fish displayed, you pick your own piece to have fried or broiled. The wait was not long and definitely worth it! I ordered scallops and tilapia and they were exquisitely seasoned!!! Great customer service too. One thing...they only take cash payments, but there is an ATM inside.

Five of us went for lunch because we'd seen reviews for their crab cakes and their sides. The place is tiny and very busy. We weren't sure how large the crab cakes would be or whether they'd be filling, so we each also ordered fried fish. All of the fish is on ice in a case like a fish market and everything is cooked to order. The fish is sold by the pound, so you can order one fillet, or 1/2 pound, or a pound, etc. and you are charged based on the weight. The crab cakes were very large and surprisingly good, served with a remoulade sauce on the side. The catfish was cooked well but was bland and had a texture unlike catfish I have had before, almost a mushy consistency, and one member of our party was convinced that it was basa, an inexpensive breed of catfish from southeast Asia. The sides were expensive at $3.50 each for a small cup, so we ordered two side of greens and one side of candied yams and shared. The greens were bland but the yams were excellent. The lemonade was served in a gigantic styrofoam cup. Definitely a place we will visit again. Things to remember for next time: We chose to sit inside on the five stools in the window looking out onto Georgia Avenue but we should have sat outside at the tables on their little patio on the side of the building because our hair and clothes smelled like fried fish by the time we left. We all ended up taking food home because the portions of crab cakes and fish were so generous; one or the other would have been enough for lunch. An extra little cup of hot sauce costs extra, so pour it on from the bottle on the counter before you leave!

This place is a match box, which makes it even more special. You order the fish on one counter, then they cook it for you on the other. The crab cake is as big as your face and the sides...OMG. The owner showed up about halfway into our order and finished cooking our food himself. Great guy, told us all about the city and wanted to know all about where we were from.

We had a very good experience here. The owner was very friendly and talked to us while we waited for a fresh cooked to order fish. They offered soul food styled side dishes. We ordered one pound of catfish and one pound of shrimp. This was plenty for me and John. We also ordered french fries and lemonade. The owner told us a story about his mother who recently passed away, and whose picture was displayed. He said that he used to sneak freshly cooked chicken wings for dinner by making a pretend phone call to get her away from the kitchen. He would then grab the wing suck on the tip,savor that wing until dinner was ready.The restaurant itself was clean and comfortable while the staff was friendly. They also offer a fresh mango sauce along with hot sauce. We like to douse our shrimp in a lot of hot sauce.Finger licking good. He offered up the bottle of hot sauce for us.We decided to eat outside where there was additional seating. The catfish was delicious, could have used a little bit more salt for my taste buds. The fries were crunchy and the lemonade was kool-aid styled. I dont have a problem with Kool Aid.Reminded me of home. While we were out there, we remembered we were in the hood; a very integrated styled hood, but nevertheless, the hood. A very petite young lady approached and asked if we would like to purchase a bag of frozen shrimp that she had "bought" at the grocery store. The shrimp was melted and we politely declined the offer. She quickly walked away. We finished our delicious food and left for the evening. It was a beautiful night, perfect weather and almost a full moon. Blessed to enjoy this place.
