This restaurant is absolutely amazing. The chef trained in France and his food is fabulous. Three of us got steaks and one had bream. As a french person I can say the food is miles better than what you will find in most places in France. Execution is perfect and you can feel the chef is not just applying recipes but he feels what he's doing and his feelings are French... if you catch my drift. He is not turning the food into Japanese in any way. After living two years in Japan, I can say I only found this kind of authenticity in foreign food in two places, one of them being in Bon Morceau. The experience at the restaurant altogether was perfect. Good little bistro atmosphere, good bread, homey decoration, handwritten menu in French... Just perfect! The only thing Japanese was the service by the chef's wife. She was extremely kind and professional; just what we love. This couple really pushed all the right buttons for us. Don't miss this place.

Was strolling in Nishiki market in Kyoto and stumbled upon this French bistrot. Both husband and wife runs this bistrot, husband a French Sous chef and wife a French pasttiserie chef...wonderful couple. I was there with my sis and nephew and we were impressed with the quality and authenticity of the French food served..reasonable pricing too...we definately will return in our next trip...highly recommend you visit if you are in Nishiki market.

My mom and I had just arrived to Kyoto and where looking for a vegetarian restaurant (I am allergic to shellfish and wanted to be safe) near Bistrot Bon Morceau to our luck it was close that day. Walking down the street we saw the Bistrot and decided to go in. The ambiance of this restaurant is like a bistro in France, small tables, wood and beautiful lighting. The service was our of this World as it is the norm in Japan and the food was amazing. I tried the foie gras and the flavors were exquisite and very delicate, after I had the pasta casserole it was delicious and very filling with lots of carrots, meat and cheese. The dessert was great I don’t remember the name of it, they serve it on a beautiful glass it had some transparent jelly and something that resemble coconut jelly on the middle. Overall a great dinning experience. I recommend if you have some days in Kyoto to go a have lunch or dinner at the Bistrot you will not regret it. Bon Appetite
